Disability Attorneys of Michigan™ Founder Stu Johnson received his law degree from Detroit College of Law in 1991, was admitted to the Michigan Bar shortly thereafter. He focused his career exclusively on disability, starting his own Social Security disability firm in 1999. For over 25 years, he helped thousands of disabled people receive benefits and now performs services for the firm on an “of counsel” basis.

"My mother taught preschool children with disabilities and she told us stories about "her kids" every night over dinner. Going into disability law was like entering the family business in a way."

My mother was an inspiration to me,  as a pre-primary special education teacher who loved her work. She would talk about “her kids” at the dinner table so often that my family felt like we knew her students. I often visited her classroom  and truly admired her dedication to people in need.
